Thanks goes to EVERYONE for your overwhelming support! We cannot wait to embark on the The Original Event this weekend, March 14. We will be gone for seven days to help better a community. Our way of helping them cope is through the power of photographs. We will also be documenting the devastation that is still visible. These photographs from the devastation will be given to the local community for them to take to the state and federal levels so they can keep the issue of the work at hand in the public eye. Ever since the presidential election, all eyes, and support have move from the hurricane torn areas of Galveston and New Orleans to the fully covered election. If you would like to still find a way to support us please check out the Support Us tab above. Your support is more than appreciated!

For more on how photographs are valued and treasured, especially when torn from natural disasters see our previous post.

Katie and I are proud to have Nate and Amanda Reynolds from Turtle Pond Photography to document these families. We are happy to share our vision and goals with this beautiful photography team.

Hurricane Ike and Gustav victims have been greatly overlooked by media. We are teaming up with

The Original Event event in March to go to Galveston along side of them. They will rebuilding homes and getting people re-established. We’ll go along side of them and do portraits of families. The families will then be given the images. If enough funds are raised they will hopefully be receiving albums and framed prints to hang in their homes. Recapture desperately needs funding to make this venture happen and that is where you and your generosity comes in to play. Please donate so that we can give these families a sense of connection, stability and self-worth. Recapturing their history and legacy is such an important emotional aspect to their healing and stability. Please help us in this endeavor by donating HERE.

I am excited that Recapture is to be featured in Atlanta, Georgia, Saturday the 28th at a local fine art printer. Digital Art Studio has picked out 18 total artist to be featured in their gallery space and we are honored to be one of them. Each week they are featuring 3-4 artist, ranging from painters, illustrators and photographers. We are selected for a one week feature starting Saturday November 28th to the follow Saturday. We are going to have some of our fine art prints, and flat matted prints for sale with all the proceeds going back to Recapture. This will also be a great opportunity to get the word out on what we are and what we do. Please come out to support us if you get some time!

Keep checking back often, because we are going to have a virtual way of making donations, easy and securely. We are also going to have many of the photographs that you have seen, from Thailand, for sale. We will offer framed fine art prints, matted prints, up to 11×14 (print size), and flat, single sheet, prints in different sizes. So that you, too, can be a part of helping others feel a sense of self-worth and value.
